June Update

Hello everyone.

It's been bit of a crazy month. Certainly weather-wise it's been a roller coaster of a massive downpour one minute and then sun. My sister on the East coast had 100 degree temperatures and we've had about 5 days of suitable beach weather. People out here are joking about the spring that wasn't and the summer that probably won't be. But everything is green! The prairie grass that we planted last year in the orchard quickly grew to more than 5 feet tall, rendering my push mower completely useless. I repaired an old electric weedwacker that was designed for someone who's about six inches shorter than I am, but I've made a bit of progress on the overgrown yard.

I've been working as many extra shifts as I could pick up at Starbucks to make a real dent in the back royalties. I'm happy to report than nearly half of all back royalties owed have been paid off. I'll continue to work extra shifts in July to get everyone paid off as quickly as I can.

Most of the hardbacks are finished. I still have to cut and collate some of the Blackhope Scaur Trilogy and reprint The Real Life Channel, which had a formatting error. The Brute, Cracks and part of the Blackhope Scaur Trilogy are going to be bound by Jennifer within a week. Brianne will put on the covers and shrink wrap the books as soon as Jennifer's done. I'm hoping to have all of the backlog cleared out very soon.

Some of you have taken advantage of the offer to take hurt copies of your books. If you haven't thought about it, please take a moment to think about whether or not you'd like them. I will donate all the ones that authors don't want, but I want to make sure everyone has had a chance to think about this before I do. I will hold onto them through the summer.

Kindle and Nook sales continue to be solid. Kindle totally revamped their guidelines and Brianne had to go in and reformat every single Kindle book that had already been uploaded. She's done this, though, and all the books are updated.

The office remodel is going very well. Most of the cleaning and rearranging has been done. I still need to do a complete inventory of covers and bound copies but the space itself is looking good.

Our various multiple jobs have settled now into a kind of routine that works for everyone here and it doesn't feel as chaotic--but we're all extremely busy.

I have cleared out all my email. So if you have an outstanding question and haven't heard from me, please resend it. Orders are all caught up and are shipping in a timely manner. I'm working on royalty exchanges as well.

I am committed to do right by all of our authors and working hard to prove it to all of you. When I pick up extra shifts, I won't necessarily have anything to report about OHP that day, but if you don't see a blog for a while, it doesn't mean I'm not working for all of you. I will blog on the days I devote to OHP and update as tasks are accomplished.

Thank you all for your patience and encouragement. It means a lot to all of us.

Cris
