Hello, everyone
I met with the hardback press in Oregon. They are
willing to function as OHP's printer for all our childrens' books. The
incredible news is that the books will be 10 x 10! Huge compared to the 6 x 6 we
were considering. They will not include a CD so they don't have to be
shrink-wrapped (which will allow browsing) but will link to a download of the
audio book. OHP would continue to handle the paperbacks in
color.
Books will be sold from the OHP website and active
there for Christmas sales (in October).
Still undecided is whether the books will have a
traditional dust jacket or a raised front and back plate. I'll keep everyone
informed on those developments.
There are two offers, in terms of their payment
agreements, being made to us. One option includes a lower SRP for the books, a
$0.90 per book royalty to both the author and illustrator, but no discount for
resale. The other option has a higher SRP per book, the same royalty for the
author and illustrator, but a 20% discount for resale. Basic numbers would look
like this:
Option 1
Royalty at $0.90 per unit. No discount granted.
